How does the process of attack blocking work?
Routing
All traffic flows through our global infrastructure of servers with an identical IP address (using the BGP Anycast technology). The infrastructure of servers covers 45 different data centres strategically placed worldwide.
Detection
The system monitors and analyses the traffic continuously in real time and detects all possibly suspicious requests, coming e.g. from botnets (i.e. an extensive network of invaded devices).
Filtration
The system blocks the identified harmful traffic using several techniques (i.e. IP address blocking, rate limiting, advanced algorithms of machine learning) even before it arrives at the target server.
Post-analysis
Those identified logs are later analysed, aiming to moderate their future effects and enhance protection strategies. The development and updates of the attack patterns continues ceaselessly.

On the application layer (L7), there is both the risk of DDoS attacks aimed at exhausting the limits of the means of applications (i.e. memory, CPU) using a large amount of requests (= HTTP flood), and also attacks on the applications themselves, e.g. web servers, applications for identity management or e-commerce platforms. Those strive to uncover vulnerable spots and manipulate personal user data. WEDOS Global Protection servers also as a Web Application Firewall (WAF) capable of detecting and effectively blocking known attemps of SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS) and other types of attacks that are executed using XML-RPC and AJAX requests.

Blacklisting for IP addresses, ASNs, URLs, user agents

FAQ
How can I add and activate the service on my domain?
You can add a domain registered with any registrar to WEDOS Global Protection, but it must use WEDOS Global DNS servers. If you don’t use them, you can add your domain to the administration of the service, but you can only activate it after changing DNS servers.

How does the trial work?
For each domain you add to the WEDOS Global administration, you will get a free trial period of 15 days, called. trial version. During this time, you can use all the options of your chosen Start, Advanced or Expert plan. You can switch between the two plans during the trial period, the length of the trial is unaffected by these changes.

How do I switch from the trial to the paid plan?
In the WEDOS Global CDN Cache trial email you will also find a link to the WEDOS client administration where you can easily upgrade the trial service to the full version with a few clicks. This will start from the expiry date of the trial version.
How easy is it to cancel the trial?
One option is to let the trial version expire. The service will be shut down after 3 days after expiration for the domain in question, and after 30 days the system will permanently remove it.
The second option is to remove the domain from WEDOS Global early. In this case, follow these instructions.
Is it possible to switch between tariffs freely?
Yes. You can change the tariff in the WEDOS Global administration in the subscription interface, which is part of the settings for each domain in the system.
Do I need to provide payment details before activating the trial?
It’s not. Trial activation is completely free and without obligation. You do not have to fill in your credit card details anywhere.
Am I entitled to customer support during the trial period?
Yes. During the trial period you are entitled to our customer support, which is available 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
How can I make a payment?
